4:00-5:00pm - "Basic Conga Clinic" - $10.00
This session will be a repeat of the first basic conga clinic held last month and will cover:
-My background and what I can teach you (Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brasilian)
-An Introduction to the Conga Drum (brief
history, musical forms, and how it fits
into the world of percussion, different
routes to playing the drum).
-Basic Technique (how to properly hit the drum)
-A basic rhythm or pattern (which you can use in many situations!)
5:00-6:00pm - "Conga Clinic II" - $10.00
This session will cover new material beyond
the "Basic" session. Participants
must attend the "Basic Clinic" (this day
or last month) in order to participate in
"Conga Clinic II". This session
will cover:
-Technique Review and more new technique (open slap vs. closed slap, more floating left)
-Basic Ensemble playing (we will play a basic Rhumba with different parts for each drum)
-Intro to Afro (we will learn the basic Brasilian rhythm used for the dance class)
